You know who is the unsung hero of every holiday?
Anticipation. Really isn’t that the most exciting part of every big event? Christmas Day is always a fun day, but it’s the days leading up to it that are my favorite.
Today, I am absolutely thrilled to get together with a bunch of blogging friends for the first ever Christmas Nights Tour! Rachel from Maison de Pax was so sweet to invite me along.
I’ll be honest with you guys; this challenge whooped my tail in the photography department. Shooting pictures in the dark is no easy feat. I did my best, and that’s always what matters most anyways. (You can see the daylight Christmas tour here and here.)
But really, how much can a girl complain when she has this glowy twinkling workspace?
I think I’m now convinced that I should just leave Christmas lights up all year long. Who’s with me on this?
There’s nothing like a cozy Christmas night when the house is all quiet and flooded with moonlight and a warm glow everywhere. There’s a beautiful sense of peace, and it’s in those serene moments curled up with a soft blanket and hot cocoa in hand when you find total contentment. Like no matter what sort of chaos is happening outside of your four walls, you still always have home to count on as your safe place.
For now, I’ll let you take the tour in the quiet anticipation of Christmas for yourself just as I enjoy it here in person.

Yep, I totally shot this entire post barefoot in my “jam slams” (as Robert and Olivia like to call pajamas). Is there really any other way?
I can’t wait for Olivia’s onesie-clad little feet to come flying down the stairs Christmas morning to find the DIYed dollhouse Santa and the elves made for her.
I will be taking a break from the blog for the next week to recharge and spend some quality time with family while working on a few HUGE behind-the-scenes projects. 2016 is already shaping up to be an incredible year.
But until then, I pray that you have the best Christmas ever, filled with laughter and hugs and snuggles and joy. So much joy.
“For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.” -Ephesians 5:8-9

I am just starting in blogging… not good at it at all, yet. I’m also way way way far from being a decent photographer. Will anyone ever read my blog and will I ever have blogger friends?? Won’t you be my neighbor? 🙂
Aw Lori! I was in your exact same shoes two years ago. I think when you really challenge yourself, you’ll discover that you are capable of so much more than you ever imagined. If you want a great resource for getting started and haven’t read it yet, Abby Lawson’s ebook Building a Framework has literally EVERYTHING you need (including some photography). I wish it had been around when I first started because it would have solved a lot of problems for me. Here’s my link to it: https://goo.gl/stt1AY
Hi ….I just found your blog via I don’t even remember….but it said Christmas Lights at Night and I couldn’t resist. Adore Adore your home and your beautiful taste in décor. I know this post is from last year….but would you mind sharing where oh where you purchased those lovely blinds by your eating table? I think I need to bump up from the hardware store ones my husband usually buys. Thanks!
Megan
Thank you so much, Megan! The blinds are by Levolor. Here’s the link to them: http://fave.co/2h6EyY8
