A couple of months ago, in the midst of pouring over the pretty projects on our weekly link party, this gorgeous space stood out among the pack.
Not this one…
…but this one! (Can you even believe that first picture is what it looked like before?) My jaw dropped when I found this blog.
If you’ve never “met” Cami over on her blog Tidbits, you are missing out. Her photography is stunning! And I always want to duplicate every project she does. Her builder grade turned cottage style kitchen is no exception.
After a few Fave Space Fridays under our belts, I thought I would change things up a bit and make these posts an opportunity for the bloggers behind the creative spaces to tell a little more about themselves and their journeys in their homes.
So I asked Cami a few questions about hers…
1. What is your absolute favorite feature of your kitchen?
The open shelving. I not only love how it looks, but I love having everything just a quick grab away – no opening or closing of doors and so easy to put away dishes. Closed doors just mean a place to shove stuff for me, but open shelving forces me to keep things neat and tidy.
2. Was there a particular project that was the most challenging? Got a little story to share about it?
Our DIY corian countertops was the biggest task by far. We managed to save thousands doing this ourselves, but we practically had to learn a new trade. However, my husband did an incredible job and shared a post all about his learning, HERE.
3. What other rooms in your house do you hope to make over next?
We are currently working on our master bedroom, and we are having a blast. You can see our progress, HERE. After that, we plan to do a quick deck sprucing-up, and then our bathrooms. And then switching around kids rooms, and then my craft room, and then the sun room . . . . it never stops! And I love it! (Not so sure my husband feels the same).
4. What advice would you give to someone who’s ready to renovate their kitchen?
Updating a kitchen is a huge investment of time and money – possibly more than any room in a home. This kitchen took us about 2 years to complete and I felt very impatient the whole time. I knew every penny saved had to be for this room if we were to get it done, so I couldn’t really focus on other rooms at all. However – the wait was totally worth it. So, unless you have a plethora of money and time (who does?) – being patient is really key. It will give you plenty of time to do it right and really think about what you like.
5. What are some of your favorite projects you’ve done on your blog?
My favorite space to fix-up was my oldest daughter’s room HERE. I just love how cozy and sweet it is. She wants to move into a room downstairs and I’m having a hard time letting go of this space. I also love doing quick little projects, like these botanical wood slices. However – the most popular post on my blog so far has been my list of clean Netflix shows to watch – which I can’t help but think is super strange. Though I am grateful it has been helpful!
So are y’all as much of a fan as I am? I love the storage and organization that’s happening in this space. And that blue…you probably already know I always find places to use that shade in our house too.
That apron sink skirt adds a sweet little bit of charm, don’t you think?
Those chunky wood shelves add pretty character too.
And that white washed wood counter adds just enough texture.
And y’all…can we just talk about this desk space for a second? Hello, lovely corner. Please come to my house.
There’s so much charm going on in the rest of Cami’s pretty home too. You can see the rest of her home tour here.
Did you enjoy this little slice of kitchen heaven as much as I did?
I can’t wait to show y’all a major transformation in our own house next week, so check back. Happy weekend!
