Gender Neutral Nursery Mood Boards Under $1200

4 gender neutral nursery ideas for a smaller budget and how to create your own mood boards to plan any room design.

Total random thing that I haven’t really mentioned but… any day now, I’m going to be an auntie again!

Robert’s sister and brother-in-law live in Nashville, and we’re waiting on pins and needles to find out if we have a little niece of nephew. They’ve waited to find out if it’s a boy or a girl, and have WAY more will power than I ever did.

Since I’ve only ever designed nurseries for my two girls (and since gender neutral nurseries are kind of tricky), I thought it would be so much fun to put together a few mood board designs!

And like always, I tried to keep them as budget-y as possible. (If you know me, you know I’d probably try to pull these off for way less than $1200 using thrifted finds if I did these in real life, but anywho.)

If you’ve ever wanted to know how to make mood boards yourself, I shared a full mood board making tutorial on my Instagram Stories earlier.

Which would you pick?!

I think #1 is my favorite. How about you?

These almost make me want another little one.

Almost. Calm down. The baby shop over here is closed. 😉

  1. #2 – All Natural is my favorite, it is truly gender neutral and has a color scheme and furniture that will grow with the child. Age and gender appropriate accessories can be added as needed and since the basic room is timeless, you will not be redoing everything in a year or two. I rank the others in this order – Minty Fresh is 2nd choice (Leans towards feminine), 3rd choice is Bright and Whimsical (just didn’t do anything for me, would prefer grey curtains and don’t care for the furry rug), least favorite by far is the Moody Botanical (a collection of items that each on its own are attractive but all put together become a too busy mishmash where items fight with each other). Thanks for sharing your great ideas.
