If you’re new to my little bitty blog, you may not know this, but I’m a junkie. (And y’all who have dropped in on me periodically, are probably thinking ‘Jeez this chick and her Goodwill hunts again.’) Guilty. But there is a reason for my madness. Frequent visits pay off. If you don’t believe me, just check out my posts about my thrifted bread box / recipe box, distressed frames, vintage typewriter, and front porch wicker.
Any time I happen to be passing by my neighborhood Goodwill and I have the time in the day, I hear a little sing-songy voice in my head that says I bet they have some amazing stuff in there. And someone else is going to snatch it up if you don’t. Must. intercept. the pretties! (Insert Gollum voice.)
Here is my latest find. Drumroll please…
Okay, I’m probably going overboard with my hype about this, but I found this baby for $6.00!!!
I saw one just like it in an antique shop for $50 a few months ago and always wanted one to do a cute centerpiece in our kitchen. But I just couldn’t deal with that price tag on a glorified box.
I happened to have some old vases and bottles of different shapes and heights, so all it took was arranging them and putting in some simple white flowers. I really hoped to find some Baby’s Breath or wildflowers, but there was none to be found among the few bouquets I saw in the store.
I still go back and forth about whether I really want to keep the red in our kitchen, but I couldn’t pass up this one for our breakfast nook. One of these days (next summer perhaps?), I would love to paint our cabinets white and then I might banish the red. But for now, I’m going to embrace it. 🙂
What great Goodwill and/or thrift store finds have y’all discovered?
