If you asked me five years ago that this blog would one day be my full-time career, I would have called you crazy. It absolutely BLOWS MY MIND that I get to wake up every day and do a job that doesn’t feel like a job at all.
I mean, don’t get me wrong. It’s still work, and it took a whole lot of work to even get here.
But it is a liberating feeling to know that you are your own boss. That you get to create and make pretty things and provide for your family while doing it. You get to dabble with photography and write your heart out and problem-solve for others and help people reach their own homemaking goals and do everything that you know in the depths of your soul you were always meant to do.

In my first year of blogging, basically only my mom read about our projects in our first home.
Robert and I took a leap of faith to have me leave my high school teaching job to be a stay-at-home mom to Olivia, who was 1 at the time. I painted thrifted furniture in our garage during her nap times as a way to have a creative outlet and furnish/decorate our empty, character-less house that we couldn’t afford to furnish any other way.
In my second year of blogging, what little bit of money I made in ads, I spent over half to sink right back into investing in this baby website of mine for a new laptop, a new website design, and a decent camera lens.
In my third year of blogging, I hit a huge milestone by adding affiliates and matching my former teacher salary.
In my fourth year of blogging, I started taking on more sponsored posts (only for brands I trusted and genuinely loved) and doubled my former teacher salary.
In my fifth year of blogging, by focusing my efforts on SEO and my email newsletter, it grew even more.
Now in my sixth, Robert is blogging with me full-time as we juggle ALL of the massive jobs that many people don’t see behind-the-scenes with the hope that we can one day take this crazy venture of ours into other people’s homes by renovating, staging, and/or consulting. (Or whatever God has planned for us because we know He was, is, and always will be in control.)
And I tell you about this wild blogging ride with the hope that it will encourage you to start a blog and make it your bonafide career, if your heart is calling you to do that like mine did. It is possible! Blogging is absolutely not dead and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere any time soon, even if it is constantly changing.
There have been a countless number of resources that have helped me learn the ropes of every aspect along the way, but in over 5 years, some of them are now outdated, some of them are even discontinued, and added up over that length of time, they all cost somewhere in the $2,000+ range.
So I thought I’d share something better.
From now until April 9th at 11:59 pm, Ultimate Bundles is running a flash sale on the Genius Blogger’s Toolkit, which has $5,867.55 worth of eBooks, eCourses, printables, workbooks, templates, stock photo packs, and memberships for $97 for the whole bundle (or $147 for the bundle + cheat sheets).
