In case you haven’t noticed over on Instagram Stories, we’ve had an interesting situation happening with our powder room floor lately. As in jackhammering said floor to rip up old tile and discovering our powder room used to be a back porch back in the ’60s. And then ripping out layers of concrete right down to our crawl space.
“Owning an old house will be fun, they said.” (Okay okay, it really isn’t that bad.) Robert and I just can’t help but laugh, and maybe freak out a little bit, at all of these surprises.
So what used to look like this…
Has ended up looking like this…
We definitely don’t want to go stumbling into this bathroom in the middle of the night. It has to get worse before it gets better sometimes, right?
So while we have lots of progress happening in this space right now, I thought I would share some of my absolute favorite tiles for a small budget, all for less than $5 per square foot. You know… if you have a bathroom floor that isn’t actually a giant black hole.
Textured Tile
Patterned Tile
We’ll be going the textured tile route in our powder room (which I can’t wait to show you!), but those patterned tiles have me all weak in the knees and might have to end up in some other room of the house one day. Do you have a favorite? That distressed blue Moroccan tile is calling my name!
The third textured one is totally swoon worthy! And the first patterned one has been catching my eye for months but I’m not sure if I’m brave enough to actually use it! 🙂
That last tile – lower right….. wow….I like them all, but that one is so delicate looking.
I like stone pattern tiles. As if I am in a spa always!
Can’t wait to see the redone bathroom and the all the choices are awesome.
I clicked on several of the patterned tiles….was disappointed to see that some of them were almost $5.00 a square foot. ? Having said that, I love all of them, and I really appreciate your suggestions for deciding on a patterned tile for a farmhouse look. ❤️
Sorry, misread your title as under $2.00. My mistake! Putting myself into time-out!
No worries at all, Deborah! Yes, under $5. Sure wish they could all be under $2 though!
Aaakkk! My apologies! I’ve reread your article and see that it says “under $5.00 a square foot”. I had misread it as “under $2.00”, which of course I realize is impossible!! Back to remedial reading for me, before I try a tiling job!! Sorry!
