Tiny Dancer in my Head

My daydreams of Olivia’s room plans have me singing some Elton John lately. 🙂
If you’ve kept up with my bedroom plans for our rambunctious 1 year-old, you’re probably thinking this chick has issues with commitment. Well, yeah you’re right. When it comes to decor plans, I hem and haw way too much. And Robert just shakes his head and chuckles at me when I do a complete 180 like this.My Lilly Pulitzer plans were pretty spectacular. Maybe one day it can be the inspiration for a big girl room when she hits the pre-teen years.

But honestly, how can you resist THIS…

Cute little girls room
Just makes my heart melt. After a bit of convincing from my mom and several others who chimed in, I realized they were right. Olivia needs a room that is more little-girlish. It’s almost a rite of passage to have a ballerina/princess themed room. And considering I was a ballet dancer for 15 years (and really have never stopped…my dog knows to be aware when I get the urge to do random pirouettes across the kitchen floor), it only seems fair to pass on the love of dance to my daughter. If she hates ballet when she gets old enough to enroll in classes, I’m cool with that. Karate it is…or soccer…or nothing at all if her heart isn’t in it. But I can always sway her to love tutus and and all things ballet pink. 😉

So here are some of my inspirations:

I decided on the paint color White Dogwood by Sherwin Williams. It’s pink without being a Pepto Bismol shade, and I love how warm and inviting it is. This room is a bit over the top and on the grand scheme of things. I’ll tone down the formality of it by not having the canopy or chandelier. How gorgeous is this antique bed?

To break up the overwhelming pink, I plan to make two walls a light gray and two accent walls the pink White Dogwood color with some sort of stripe or stencil. I’m really loving these shades of pale pink and gray, and that monogram is absolutely presh.

I have a ton of uniquely shaped frames with feminine details that I collected during several different trips to craft stores and thrift shops. I plan on eventually creating a gallery wall with them above her dresser. This one is beautiful and is very reminiscent of some of the pieces I already have.
Love the pink and gray color combination for a little girls room. JUST PAINT ONE WALL OF THE NURSERY AN ACCENT COLOR SO WHEN THE NEXT BABY COMES AROUND A DIFFERENT GENDER YOU ONLY HAVE TO PAINT ONE WALL
Project Nursery
See that dandelion-like light pendant in the right corner? We already have that ready to hang in Olivia’s room (the Ikea Maskros). I love how it is fun, casual, youthful, and elegant all at the same time. And did I mention inexpensive? Yay! Everyone wins.
love gray and pink! and if we have another girl may have to do pink

I would love to have these precious ballerina prints in this next inspiration! Especially the one on the right since Olivia is brunette. 🙂  But they are a bit pricey for me. DIY perhaps? We do have some rather artistic family members…hmm…
Sweet pink nursery for a little ballerina in training <3

Eek! I’m so thrilled about this one, and yeah she’ll probably absolutely hate the color pink by the time she reaches the age of 10 after all of this, but I’m going to use it EVERYWHERE until she doesn’t let me anymore. Isn’t this the most precious picture ever? I might have to break out my DSLR and recreate it with my own little dancer.

Maybe I’ll even add a ballet bar and full length mirror in her room one day. And then Mommy can practice with her to show her how it’s done. I might have to pull my old pointe shoes out of the closet sooner than I had planned. 🙂
