Boho Summer Back Porch
A tropical boho back porch decorated for summer with breezy, functional style and string lights for evening ambience.
It’s officially summer at our house this week! The girls’ last day of school is Friday, the pool makeover is getting wrapped up today, and we’ll be celebrating this weekend with a big cookout to kick off the season right.
If y’all need me, my butt will be planted on this back porch from now until fall… seriously. You’ll have to peel me off of this spot in September.

If you’ve been visiting here for a while, you might remember this loveliness before we painted the ceiling, installed new ceiling fans, limewashed the brick, hung up cheapo mosquito net curtains, and cleaned up some of our old furniture we brought with us from the last house.

We spend so much time out here in the warm months that it is absolutely worth it to decorate every year and swap out a few items from the year before that get beaten up by the elements.
So I snagged a few things from Drew Barrymore’s Flower Home line at Walmart because it all screams tropical boho pool party to me. I feel like I can’t get away with the boho look inside of our house since it’s much more traditional within our walls.
But out here, I love that I can give it more of a global bungalow vibe for not a whole lotta moolah. You can see the full Flower Home collection here.

My black-thumbed self might be crazy for attempting this, but I picked up this live palm plant for $20 the other day. He was so adorable that I had to have him. (Yes, it’s a him. Haha!) He’s going to need all of the help he can get with me as his plant mama.
I don’t trust myself to repot it, so I just stuck it in this cute brass wire basket and called it done.

Our throw pillows usually get the most abuse, so I swapped out the pollen covered ones from last year with this fringed one and put this pom pom throw blanket with it to cozy up in the cooler evenings.

I’ve been tempted to hang art on our brick for awhile and discovered brick hooks that prevent damage so that I could mount these botanical prints.

They’re SO cute!!! And they match my free printable summer botanicals just inside our back door. ๐

I thought these floral pillows were a fun punch of color too.

We usually sprawl out around this dining table to chow down for cookouts, and I work here sipping my coffee on pretty mornings for some peace and quiet.

The only thing I can keep alive in our yard is hydrangeas, so I always have vases full of them in the summer.
Bonus points: They’re no brainers to arrange! Woot! Stick ’em in and done.

And I plan to put some citronella pillar candles in these glass votive lanterns to help keep the bugs away since they’re definitely out in full force now.

It’s absolutely my favorite “room” in the house, if it counts as a room.

What a beautiful backyard oasis!! Love everything you did to pull it together to create such a peaceful place to hang out. Enjoy.
Beautiful porch!! Where did you find the rug under your dining table? I’ve been looking for one like that for my porch! ๐
Thank you, Amanda! The rug is from Target, https://rstyle.me/n/c5yhy3b5ky7. ๐
You scored on that $20 palm! itโs huge! And your outdoor room is lovely and inviting. The older chairs look great with a new application of teak oil, makes them look brand new! Thanks for the inspiration!
I’ve always loved the BOHO style even though my house is vintage farmhouse style. Interesting to see that you picked a different style for the outside. Now I’m inspired. Thank you and enjoy time with your family out there!….oh! and thanks for the links!
I would like to know where to find the two tables that you have on rug as coffee tables. I love them.
I got them at TJ Maxx about 3 years ago and haven’t had any luck finding ones just like them, unfortunately. They’re garden stools. I love how versatile they are. They double as some basic overflow seating too in case anyone ever wants to “pop a squat” on them.
