Window Picture Frame and Free Botanical Printables

Can I just give away free stuff to y’all in every post I write from now on? Every time I share one of my DIY/crafting/decor-dreaming/oopsie-flub-ups on this blog, I do a little happy dance because I’m still amazed that people other than my mom read about our adventures.

You guys stopping in and sharing your thoughts and ideas and sweet comments with me is what gives me the motivation to keep the momentum going around here.

So to thank you, I’m sharing a set of free botanical printables at the end of this post.

But right now, for a quick Trash to Treasure Transformation flash-back, I’m recapping about one of my favorite yet super simple wall decor projects.

It all started with these abandoned windows left in my in-laws’ old barn behind their house.

I made off with the window that wasn’t broken this go-round. Don’t you wish you had a magical barn that supplied incredible reclaimed goodies? I’d go diving through my in-laws’ barn more often if I wasn’t terrified of the critters living in there. Ack!

I took the window home and gave it a lead paint test to make sure we didn’t have that not-so-fun stuff hanging around on the frame, then vacuumed it with a wand attachment, sprayed with all-purpose cleaner and let dry, and sealed it with a coat of matte Rustoleum spray polyurethane.

I hung it up behind our tub in our master bathroom with a Hangman hanger. I use those for everything that I want to make super duper secure.

Then, I had this thrifted Audubon Birds of America book lying around that was completely falling apart. I knew it would one day make beautiful art.

So I just taped a few of the pages to the window panes and that was it!

If you choose to hang yours up in a bathroom like I did, you should also seal the pages with Scotch laminating sheets to prevent moisture.

I used more of the sheets from my Audubon book to make book page botanical art from Walmart poster frames in our foyer too. It is absolutely perfect for spring and summer!
