Spring Living Room Tour
I was planning to make this post super catchy and helpful like…
10 Ways to Bring Spring Into Your Home
5 Ways to Make Your Living Room Look Effortless With Florals
But… my brain is half asleep from all of the work we’ve done in Olivia’s room lately and preparing for a yard sale. I rattled around in this noggin of mine and all I got was, “Hey, look! I decorated for spring even though spring is halfway over.” Ha!
But it does the soul so much good to dust the tabletops and sweep the floors and set out a couple of vases of grocery store flowers.
It’s not just cleaning and decorating. It’s refreshing your mood, brightening your perspective, wrapping a new season in a big ol’ bear hug and saying, “This spring is going to be great.”
That’s always time well spent in my PB&J spreading, LEGO stepping, glitter slime mixing world. Even if the peace and pretty lasts only a day.
Lola has the right idea on the couch there.
Most of the time, this tray on our DIY ottoman is a toy catcher and remote control corraler…
Most of the time, that antique book has doubled as a coaster for a sippy cup of chocolate milk…
Most of the time, this sofa has more piles of folded laundry on it than it does throw pillows…
Would you like to save this?
And there are days I wish for it all to go away… but only for a second. Because when all of the laundry and sippy cups and scattered toys go away, I know I’ll wish for it… this season.
Even though I’ve been in “spring cleaning mode” these last few weeks while the sun gets warmer outside, I still have to remind myself to be thankful for the messes.
So Robert, Olivia, and I are going to sprawl out for family movie nights in this living room and build blanket forts and have dance recitals on the rug. Because what good is a living room without the living part?
I’ll enjoy the tidy and pretty today, but I’ll embrace this crazy, chaotic little family life always.
Side note real quick though… can you believe how much this room has changed?
Here’s the before:
It wasn’t “ugly” by any means before at all, but this space definitely feels like a reflection of us now.
I realized I never really did a “room reveal” post for this one, so I rounded up everything below, if you’ve ever wanted to know.
