20 Stylish Budget-Friendly Nursery Gliders

A round-up shopping guide with the highest rated nursery gliders and rocking chairs that have a designer look for less than half the price.

This week in nursery makeover news:  We have hardwood floors!

Well, okay, they’ve always been there, but they were just hiding under carpet begging to see the light of day.

Our contractor arrived this week to rescue them from their somewhat shabby existence, but considering they are original to our 1960 house, they look pretty dang smashing already.

So for now, because of the fumes and sanding dust everywhere, Robert, Olivia, and I have escaped to my parents’ house for a night or two while the floors are finished up.

(P.S. Don’t worry. Those black splotches all over the place are rug pad remnants, not black mold. Phew!)

…which also leaves me to shopping for the final touches in this nursery- mainly, the nursery glider.

When Olivia was born, we shelled out the bulk of our funds for a super nice convertible crib and scrounged up the bare minimum for a glider rocking chair.

Now, in hindsight, with this second baby, we’re doing the exact opposite because we learned our lesson the first time.

The super nice convertible crib? We never bothered to convert it to a toddler bed or full-sized bed after the baby phase, and Olivia didn’t sleep in it for the first 6 months of her life anyway.

But the cheap glider rocking chair? We wore that thing OUT! And we used it so much that it started squeaking and wobbling and drove us absolutely nuts by the time we hit a year.

Moral of the story: If you’re going to splurge on one piece of nursery furniture, go for the glider! And go for one that is super comfortable because you’ll spend a lot of time in it.

But you don’t necessarily have to shell out over $1,000 on a designery PB Kids, RH Baby & Child, or Crate and Kids glider to get a stylish comfy one.

If you’re in the baby nursery planning phase too, I’ve rounded up 20 of my absolute favorite budget-friendly (but still beautiful) gliders and rocking chairs that won’t break the bank.

All are under $500 or less, all have great reviews by parents who have taken them for test drives, and most come in several different colors.

We just ordered ours the other day, and I cannot wait to see it in the space with our newly finished floors! More on that later though.

  1. We bought a LazyBoy Recliner/Rocker for my daughter when she was expecting her first. We found a smallish, sleek (no rounded arms or extra poofs), oatmeal colored one for under $500 (3 years ago). It has been wonderful! The reclining aspect has come in handy when the Littles are sick with congestion and they need to be elevated on Momma’s chest all night to sleep…and Momma can catch a few Zzzzs also!

Only regret is that I didn’t buy two!
