Favorite Budget Friendly Blue Vintage Rugs

It’s officially official. This blog has THE best readers on the planet. Second to none.

I don’t know of many gals who can just invite a few thousand stylish people over to her house and ask a decorating question and immediately get awesome feedback.

I mean…while we’re at it, can we just have a fashion show like we used to do when we were in middle school in our moms’ old prom dresses and sing “Love is a Battlefield” into our hairbrushes? Okay, good.

Favorite Budget Friendly Blue Vintage Rugs | blesserhouse.com - I love how all of them are a little bit traditional and a little bit modern all at once! Slightly edgy but still timeless.

I might have mentioned it before (or maybe you’ve already figured it out with the trial and error that happens around here) that I am not a professional interior designer who went to art school and studied stylistic eras and fabrics and mood boards or any of that. #IWish

I surf around Pinterest and flip through magazines and watch design shows and somewhere in the middle of all that, I try to decipher what is “me”. And it’s kind of exciting to now have a better idea of who “me” really is.

Two things I know for sure- vintage and blue are like a match made in heaven.

Which brings me to this little situation…

We are one DIY project away from calling our bedroom makeover a wrap, except… I’m stumped on choosing a rug to put under our bed.

I’m usually a stick-to-neutrals kind of gal, but one thing I can always get away with to add a bit of color is blue. It works! Color-fearing peeps everywhere rejoice!

It’s the least scary color out there and gorgeous in all kinds of spaces.

And since I’m always on the lookout for low-budget options, I’ve come up with 9 of my absolute favorite blue vintage area rugs to consider for our room.

Most of these rugs are currently marked down at Rugs USA for 70% off right now too.

I love how all of them are a little bit traditional and a little bit modern all at once. These artificially distressed ones seem to have become a trend fairly recently, but I don’t think they’re going anywhere anytime soon. They still have that great timeless quality to them.

Whichever one we go with, I can’t wait to make our carpet look not so lonely.

Do you have a favorite? Which one would you choose? Or should we just stop the rug fashion show and go back to singing into our hairbrushes? I’m cool with that too.

  1. I agree with Hope, that 1 & 3 are really nice, but I can see #6 working well too with your bedhead and the new bamboo blind. I’m a sucker for blue & vintage too and have pops all over my home mixed in nicely with my neutrals 🙂 I love watching your home come to life and you make it so achievable for your followers to have a go too.! Have a beautiful day 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, Min! And thank you for the input! I’m still feeling totally stuck. Might just play eenie meenie miney mo for the final decision. Haha!

  2. 6 or 9 …. Lots of interest without being busy. Love your room and it successfully reflect a calm space …too much busy in the carpet may change the room too much. Excited to see what u pick.

  3. That’s a hard choice – they all look great! I think my preference would be 3, 4 or 5 – I think they would add the pop of color, as well as contrast well with the bed and the neutral bedding. Can’t wait to see what you choose!

  4. I really like number 5. Adds a bit of brightness. However, they are all beautiful, and any one of them would look great in your room! I love your style!

  5. Personally I like 1, 7 or 8. I think 1 because its lighter and will really make everything tie in together, but I could be persuaded with the other two because they still have the lighter color in with the blue which you are trying to tie into the bedding. I’m sure whatever you choose will work and look beautiful!

  6. I like 3, 7 and 8. I guess I think they are all fabulous and have a more distinct border which would help define your bed area. Love your blog.

  7. I really like 2 or 8…would consider either of these for myself, as well 🙂 Happy choosing!! I know it will look amazing!

  8. Search “vintage distressed blue rug” (or something along those lines) on Target’s website. I purchased the rug for my master bedroom and it is gorgeous and looks way more expensive than it is.

    1. Yes! I actually had my eye on that particular Target rug for a month, but it’s been out of stock for a while now. That was my first choice. Of course. As luck would have it. :-/

  9. I have #6 in my living room and looooove it! It doesn’t look as distressed in real life as in the pictures. There’s a couple great accent colors that pop in, which makes it even more fun to decorate with!
