The other week, when I shared our hallway makeover, a bunch of y’all commented/messaged about our attic string and how it magically disappeared. So ta da! This weird post was born.

For true comparison’s sake, the attic door looked like this at first.

So we attached it back in place with a staple gun, gave it a bright white paint job, and then dealt with the ratty string that I’m pretty sure was older than I am.

When I was looking for a solution so we didn’t have to look at a string hanging down all the time, I found this thing called an Attic Ease pull system.

Robert just cut off the string from the inside, pulled it out of the existing hole, and we screwed this little ring in its place.

To pull it down when we need to access the attic, it comes with this pole with a hook on the end.

We just keep the pole inside of a closet right beside the door when it’s not in use.

  2. Never thought of that. Looks much better. Unfortunately we have a spider hole, so it is not easy to get in our attic!

    BTW, you can get rid of that fiberglass and get an insulated cover for your pull-down steps with for about $30-50. Amazon has a number of different ones available.
