Apparently, I’ve traded in my paint brush and power tools for a virtual shopping cart these past two weeks as I’ve been eyeing light fixtures and curtains and furnishings to visualize the new house. (Here’s the post with the news about our move, if you missed it.)
You think the online shopping fairy can just drop off all of those things at our doorstep? That’d be great.
One thing about the new place that I have to keep in mind though is that we’re dealing with 8 foot tall ceilings, not the 9 footers that we grew so used to in our old house. So that means flush mount and semi-flush mount lighting is very much on my radar.
(In a perfect world, chandeliers would work in every room.) It’s hard finding flush mounts that are pretty but still functional for shorter ceilings, and, as always, I didn’t want them to break the bank.
So I’ve rounded up some of my favorite vintage-inspired flush mount lights for under $150 in case you’ve needed some direction with new lighting in your house too. They’re all so different but all are gorgeous!

Do you have a favorite? Since the new-to-us house is an old brick Colonial with a formal feel, I’m sure I’ll be going less industrial and more polished with classic style fixtures. I’ve never really gone the glam route before, but those crystal light fixtures are calling my name!
I just bought a couple of the design house kimball lights fro our upstairs hallway to replace those builder grade boob lights…it is hard to find good looking flush mount farm house style.
I agree. It’s hard finding pretty ones that don’t cost an arm and a leg.
These are my FAVORITE posts!!!! So pumped to by a fan (from a previous post) and I need two mounted lights for our laundry and kitchen! Thanks for doing the grunt work. 🙂
I don’t have the affiliate links to click. I only see show_boutique_widget id=”564131″]
So sorry about that, Carrie Anne. I had to adjust the link. It should be all fixed now. 🙂
I can’t tell you how excited I am about your new house. What a joy to follow along as you decorate the Colonial. Looking forward to seeing the unique and fun twists you add. As for these lights, I love them for my traditional, too. Great group of choices. Thanks for sharing! Susie from The Chelsea Project
So glad you’re involved in virtual shopping right now. I’m doing the same thing for a small vacation home we’re building in the mountains. My inspirations are vintage, rustic, shabby chic & industrial.
Hi Lauren, i love the 4th one. The bling just looks so classy to me. Looking forward to watching you find your farmhouse/colonial style. A fun adventure for sure.
this post is perfectly timed as I too am looking for a farm house style fixture for my hallway. You’ve given me some great ideas! I’m leaning towards the lantern style, but I love those crystal ones too, so pretty! The second one top row is very unique though, and might be an “oh wow look at that chandelier” kind because it’s so different. Very hard to choose indeed!
I now see the unique chandelier I was referring to in second row across, last one. It moved!
And it must be well liked, there’s only one left. My last comment I promise.
I bought the Jessica 3-light Crystal Basket Flush Mount Chandelier from a local big box home improvement store just last week and it was a little bit cheaper! I really love it! I need to find just that perfect for my laundry room now!
I like the crystal lights too. The one in the upper right hand corner is my favorite but the flush one on the next to last row is also very pretty. I’ve been praying for you and your family as you are in limbo and that the move to your new home will go smoothly.
Love them all- seriously, it is hard to pick a favorite. We are building a new house and had them pre-wire every room so we could put a flush mount light or ceiling fan in every room.
We did the same thing. Definitely easier than DIY. Electrical is tricky stuff.
Hi! I’m one of the co-hosts from the Welcome Home Wednesday Link Up. I don’t know what it is about lights but I am obsessed with them. The prettier they are, the better! I love this post! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, Leslie!
Thanks for the sources on these cool lights. Have you ever found a vintage looking ceiling fan?
Hi. I can’t find the link to click on. It just says show widget boutique
Oops. It’s all fixed now.
Could you please post the link for your flush mount hallway light? I can’t find it online. Thank you!
Hmm, can you tell me which hallway and what house? 🙂 Thanks!
Hi. What type of bulb did you put in your upstairs hallway light fixture? Did you go with the Edison style?
If the bulb is visible, I do usually prefer to use an Edison style. This is one of my favorites because it’s a great neutral, not too yellow and not too blue: https://www.amazon.com/Sunco-Lighting-Vintage-Filament-Decorative/dp/B07RK52M3K/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=edison+soft+white+bulb&qid=1591965174&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExMTRVVjZXWjZOTk4yJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMzY2OTkyMzI4NTAxNENaM0JQNiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMjQxMDE2MTNTTEtGSzdGOU81MCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
