Best Children’s Ceiling Lights on a Budget

30+ beautiful chandeliers, pendant lights, and flush mount lights for kids’ bedrooms and playrooms with splurge and budget-friendly options.

We’ve had playroom plans on the brain lately as Robert and I are crossing our fingers for a much-needed playroom overhaul in the fall. (I promise more grown-up stuff will be happening before then.)

So far, we’ve only tackled a few sections in the playroom, but that DIY sunburst light fixture we made using a mirror is still by far my top favorite DIY childrens lighting project of all time.

Since pulling together all kinds of whimsical animal lamps inspired by the peacock table lamps in Regan’s sweet cottagecore bedroom, I somehow ended up down the rabbit hole of favorite kids’ lighting.

In the process, I found some great budget-friendly look-alikes to the high end designer style light fixtures for kids’ bedrooms and playrooms.

Kids’ rooms are even more fun than designing a regular adult space, and lighting is where you can really go wild with ceiling fixtures a little more funky than usual.

If you have a child’s space such as a nursery or teen hangout room to decorate in the near future, one of these flush mount lights, chandeliers, or pendant lights for kids might help.

Best Kids Lighting on a Low Budget

I kept these lights all under $180 (and some even less than $100) with a mix of girly, boyish, and neutral. And honestly, some of these I kind of want to buy for other rooms of the house because they’re so pretty!

Kids’ Bedroom Lights in Real Spaces

Here are all of the kids light fixtures, fandeliers, and chandeliers we’ve used and love in our own kids’ room makeovers.

Feminine Floral Drum Chandelier for a Cottagecore Little Girl’s Room

Since hanging this crystal floral drum nursery light fixture in Regan’s room when she was born, it’s now available in a fandelier version!

If you’ve followed our escapades lately, you know we have a fandelier love affair, right?

Vintage Style Woven Fandelier for a Cottage Preteen Bedroom

In Olivia’s preteen bedroom, we used this woven fandelier too as a compromise between a light fixture and a ceiling fan.

It’s definitely not specifically a children’s bedroom light and would work well in adult spaces. I love the hint of vintage style blending with modern function.

Boho Fandelier for a Shared Preteen Bunk Room

Adding a fandelier in this bunk room made total sense so that no child’s head would get smacked by a ceiling fan blade while climbing out of the top bunk. The boho jute style fandelier added to the beachy style of the room.

This style is currently sold out it seems, but this rattan fandelier is similar.

Star Flush Mount Light in a Family Rec Room

Since this family rec room makeover was a combo playroom and teen hangout space for boys and girls in a wide range of ages, we chose these star flush mount light fixtures as a hint of whimsy without being baby-ish.

  1. I love the 3rd light however there is no link . It’s the chandelier with a shade over top.

P.s. I love your site so much!!!

  2. I really like the Joni 3-light pendant from Wayfair for your playroom, especially since you said you are sort of leaning in the kind of direction

  3. I love the Wicker Nest Pendant Shade! It’s so unique and would complements the room nicely. My only concern would be whether or not it would give off enough light for the room.
