The Best Lighting for Kids on a Budget

We’ve been on a major playroom / kids’ decor extravaganza kick all week. (I promise more grown-up stuff will be happening next.)  But I’ve had an absolute blast pulling together Olivia’s playroom as our first big goal on the house resolutions list for 2018.

The last time I shared our playroom progress, we were sporting this look:

Those built-in shelves have done soooo much for organization in here. But the lighting still needs a lot of work. The dim, barely functioning canned lights will be switched out for LEDs soon. And then there’s this fan that is past its prime.

There is tons of potential for a cute chandelier or pendant light in this space since we’ll be putting a play table underneath it, so in my process of shopping for the “winner”, I thought I would share 30 of my favorite chandeliers, pendant lights, and flush mount lights for kids, if you’re in a kid’s room or playroom decorating phase too.

I kept them all under $200 (and some even less than $100) with a mix of girly, boyish, and neutral. And honestly, some of these I kind of want to buy for other rooms of the house because they’re so pretty.

Which one do you think will look the best in our playroom? I’m really digging the wood/bamboo look lately to add some warmth and texture.

  1. I love the 3rd light however there is no link . It’s the chandelier with a shade over top.

P.s. I love your site so much!!!

  2. I really like the Joni 3-light pendant from Wayfair for your playroom, especially since you said you are sort of leaning in the kind of direction

  3. I love the Wicker Nest Pendant Shade! It’s so unique and would complements the room nicely. My only concern would be whether or not it would give off enough light for the room.
