Our Concrete Patio Update & Summer Al Fresco Tablescape

A concrete patio summer dining tablescape, DIY pool deck update, and a round-up of the best outdoor furniture & decor finds from Walmart.

Oh, how far this backyard has come!

If you’ve been hanging with us since last spring, you might recall this:

Then, we painted the vinyl pool shed, replaced the pool liner, and things started looking up.

And then we destroyed it all over again with our painted concrete DIY fail shortly after.

But this summer has been all about redemption! Now that our concrete pool deck and patio is painted (the right way) and looking freshy fresh, this backyard is in good shape again.

Since we always have a lot of outdoor gatherings with friends and family in this spot, we knew we really needed more seating with an extra long dining table.

So we found this wooden outdoor table with 2 extra leaves hidden inside from Walmart that we can extend to seat 10 people!

We have it set up to just seat 6 for now, but it is so easy to extend as needed without the need to store the table leaves.

The French bistro armchairs are so comfy and sturdy so far. Even though they look like wood, they’re made of metal to stand up to the elements.

I set it up for a little backyard cookout to celebrate the kids being out of school and the ability to finally have small gatherings of friends and family over again. So many summer days smoking barbecue on our grill are definitely ahead of us.

If 2020 has taught me anything, it’s that I’ll never take moments like this for granted ever again.

A couple of years ago, we gave our back porch a major spruce up, but we were still rockin’ a patio table out here that I tried my best to rescue after being a leftover from our house’s previous owners. It feels so good to have this spot updated now too.

So now here’s hoping our biggest DIY fails and 2020’s chaos is behind us and good days are ahead for the rest of this year!

  1. Here’s what I think!!! You’re both so very talented. I love your style. I hail from Massachusetts and so much of what you’ve done would work here. I would love to tackle my pool deck (but I can’t myself, too old now, so I have to hire) and build a pool shed exactly like yours. I’ve been looking forever for something I’d need that would work for me. This shed is perfect and has a door that would easily access my pool filter is and I could easily access it. The rest for storage. I love it!! I WISH you were my sister…….:)

Wishing you and your family much health, happiness and more fun projects. Looking forward to all of your posts. Stay safe….
