Our Black and Pink Bathroom Refresh Done in 4 Days
This post is sponsored by The Home Depot.
If the Lauren 10 years ago heard that I’d painted over a neutral room with pink paint, she’d probably faint. Who even AM I anymore?
I am so completely in love with this warmer, cozier, girlier (totally a word) bathroom for our girls…

I can’t get over the difference of such a simple color change! It’s so girly and warm and cozy!
We remodeled this bathroom 5 years ago, and it became a really sweet space. But it felt a little out of place with the rest of our house.
I was going for “minimalism” at the time, but as the girls have gotten older it has seemed a little too sterile and serious with the gray and white.
It wasn’t anything some paint and a fixture swap couldn’t fix.
We used a few key pieces and decor from The Home Depot to complete our 4-day bathroom refresh. It’s like the space was meant to be like this all along with the pops of gold.
By getting faucets and bathroom accessories up to 40% off at The Home Depot’s Summer Bath event, we were able to complete this refresh for less than $1,000.
Blush Pink Paint Color Drenching
If you’ve seen my tips for making a small room look bigger before, you know that I’m a big fan of color drenching. It’s a decorating technique of painting an entire room the same color: walls, trim, doors, and ceiling.
It tricks the eye to make you believe a space is bigger because there are no breaks in the line of sight.
Even though color drenching is trending right now, it’s a technique that has been around for quite a long time.
I chose the color Behr Postmodern Mauve – a subtle peach blush shade that can lean pink or beige, depending on the lighting. It is slightly desaturated to give it a beautifully aged quality.
I recommend using a satin sheen in humid rooms like bathrooms because it’s less likely to trap mold than eggshell or flat sheens.

Black Bathroom Vanity Paint
This bathroom was really tricky to remodel back in 2019 because it’s too narrow for a standard vanity cabinet. So we made a bathroom vanity using a console table instead. (Thankfully, we have a deep organized linen closet in this bathroom to makeup for the vanity’s lack of storage.)
I painted the vanity Behr Totally Black in satin for a pop of contrast. Because the chrome pipes were exposed underneath, I decided to paint them gold.

Gold Fixtures
The brushed nickel fixtures we originally had in this bathroom were cute, but they seemed out of place in comparison to the rest of our house. It was the only room with silver colored faucets and fixtures.
Adding the gold instead really warmed up the entire room. I love how the brushed brass finish sparkles when the sunlight streams in through the window.
Gold Sink Faucets
Since we had to work around the narrow console table, vessel sinks were the best solution for us. This setup was so much cheaper than having a custom vanity built for us.
We swapped out the brushed nickel faucets as well with these vibrant brushed modern brass faucets.

Gold Tub and Shower Faucet
Of course, we had to swap out the brushed nickel in the shower for this brushed modern brass tub and shower faucet too.
All of our new faucets come with a Kohler faucet lifetime warranty and has ScratchShield technology, so we feel good knowing that they will last with the daily abuse of our kids.
Gold Hooks
I’m a big fan of using hooks instead of towel bars in kids’ bathrooms. Our kids have a much easier time hanging up a used towel on a hook rather than neatly folding them on a bar.
We hung up these brushed modern brass hooks to coordinate with the faucets. I got these antimicrobial waffle towels that are SO soft. I only bought one set, but I’m so impressed with them that I’m planning to buy a few more.
Gold Sconce Lights
We swapped out the nickel sconces for these warm brass transitional wall sconces we got at buy one, get one 50% off. I couldn’t be happier with how warm they look against the mauve walls!

Mirror Paint
It’s really hard to find mirrors at just the right dimensions for this tight vanity space. But I love the bobbin detail on these that are so fun for a girls’ bathroom. We got them for the original remodel, so there was no sense in getting new ones.
I protected the mirror with Mask & Peel to spray paint the frame with satin black spray paint. They remind me of a beaded necklace.

Vanity Hardware
The newly painted black vanity looks so luxe against these gold cabinet knobs I added! They’re just slightly weathered with a burnished brass finish to give them a little extra character.

Gold Picture Frame Paint
To stay under budget, I simply spray painted the existing art frame with my favorite gold spray paint.
This tightrope walker painting was partly my inspiration for this entire bathroom with its pop of pink against the black and gold tones.
Raised Shower Curtain
I can’t believe we never thought to do this before! We used an extra long shower curtain liner and 92″ window curtains to hang just below our crown molding on this curved double shower curtain rod.
The end result makes our ceiling look much taller! I can’t get over the difference.
Bathroom Sources
You can find everything we used in our bathroom refresh from The Home Depot in the list below along with items we used from our full remodel years prior. They’re all such classic staples that I have no worries of permanent materials like the tile going out of style in the future.
Bathroom Before and After
Of course, I’m sneaking in one more before and after photo comparison for good measure. 😉
The power of paint never ceases to amaze me.
What do you think? Would you ever paint your walls pink?!
It’s certainly not a look for everyone, but I know my two girls are very happy with this color change. (And that’s what is most important anyway, right?)
